Hello,
We are interested to perform LES calculations on rotating discs with complicated internal stator structures. To do this, we would like to avoid simulating the whole domain but simulating only a wedge. We are using Fluent Meshing to create the rotating and stationary zones for the geometry and applied shared faces in the workbench in SpaceClaim.
In Fluent Meshing, we applied the rotational periodic boundary to the two azimuthal sides of the domain. We also defined two interfaces for the connecting surfaces between the rotating domain and the stationary domain in spaceclaim. This is working for the MRF case and it is also possible for me to simulate a sliding mesh rotating simulation with the whole geometry.
However, when I make a wedge from the whole geometry and follow the same procedure. I cannot use the periodic repeat function, since there are no interfaces being recognized in Fluent. What should I do to circumvent this problem? Is there any special settings that I need to do in Spaceclaim when I create the geometry?

There is nothing new in this video. I am following the same procedure to prepare a MRF simulation, and it works. So, there is no problem here.
My question in on the sliding mesh simulation, and I need a periodic repeat function for the surface between the rotational and stationary. When the rotationg mesh rotates, it will have occasion where the interface is only partial overlapping with the stationary mesh. For the surface without overlapping, the periodic repeat should copy the values of the interface to the non-overlapping face.
It is avialable in the sliding mesh tutorial, however, there is no tutorial on how to prepare the geometry. If I follow the video to construct the geometry, you will end up with no interface boundary. So, you cannot activiate the periodic repeat function.

Ok, I just figure out. I have to set define/mesh-interfaces/one-to-one-pairing? yes. and then I can set the interface to periodic repeat. It is still not working with divergence of the velocity, but I think I will figure it out.
