SubscriberHello,
I'm trying to speed up solve time by meshing some simple plate parts as Solid Shell elements. I've applied a Sweep method to the parts and set the Element Option to Solid Shell. The parts mesh fine. However, if I select an individual element the Element Type shown in the Selection Information window is HEX8. I thought Solid Shell elements were supposed to be SOLSH190 elements. Is there something wrong with the Sweep settings? I'm running ANSYS 2022 R1 full comercial (not Student). Any guidance would be great!

SubscriberIf you look in the Solution Output, it writes out the element types that were used during solving.
Perhaps the Selection Information tool is only reporting element shape: Hex8 vs Hex20 (linear vs quadratic) rather than the actual element type that will be used by the solver. There are many element types that can be applied to a Hex8 mesh depending on whether the model is a Static Structural or a Thermal model.
