SubscriberHi all,Â
I am running an analysis in explicit dynamics where a smaller cylinder hits a larger one as you can see in the snip below.Â
I would like to extract the contact force at the tip of the big cylinder if it is possible. In the connections I have only defined a body interaction connection. If somebody could help me with that would be appreciated.Â
Thanks in advance!

Forum ModeratorHi,

You can output contact force or external force on a part in Explicit STR using solution trackers by right-click on SOLUTION -> SOLUTION INFORMATION, select the force, and then scope to the part.
This will give you the time history of either contact force or external force acting on the part. The frequency of saving these data is specified in Analysis Settings -> Output Controls -> Save Results Tracker Data.
You could get more information here at Ansys help:
// Mechanical User's Guide // Features // Solving Overview // Result Trackers // Explicit Dynamics Result Trackers // Body Scoped Result Trackers for Explicit Dynamics.Â
