SubscriberHow can we calculate the void and volume fraction in multi phase flows? It would be great if it were explained with an example. -

Ansys EmployeeTo calcuate the void in your system assuming you are looking into a "reduced" quantity so you just volume integral the volume fraction to have the whole "void" in m³. Volume Fraction is nothing else than the spatial/temporal/ensemble average of the indicator function (which does only return 1 if phase is there or 0 if not) and so is a sort of probablity in terms of volume to find certain phase in a certain volume.
