SubscriberHello everyone,
My professor recently taught me how to perform optimization using ansys APDL. He performed optimization using design variables, state variables, and objective functions, with 1st derivative method.
The problem is, his version is 12.1, and mine is 2021 r2. When I open my APDL, there is no "design opt", as well as the "OPVAR", "OPANL" commands that I saw in his log file. (picture below is his APDL GUI)
Am I missing something in the installation? Or the "design opt" no longer exists in this version? If so, is there any way to perform optimization using such method?
Please help me. Thank you so so much.

Ansys EmployeeIf you have R2021-R2 installed, can you use topology and shape optimization tools in WB-Mechanical instead?
That would give you the latest technology.

Dear sir,
My version is ansys student 2021 r2. I've tried to find it but I don't see the tools you've mentioned.
I have a project in APDL, which defines all materials, parameters, geometries, and formulas. I also meshed, applied current density and solved for magnetic flux density.
Now I need to optimize using the objective function, variables and constraints. Is this doable in my current version of ansys?
Thank you.

Nvm, I already did it by linking APDL project to WB and then running the optimization tool.
Thank you for helping me.
