SubscriberHad someone already modeled a cable for a bridge? I am not willing the cable to be just in tension. Instead both tension and bending. If it is possible to share a tutorial if already found. The figure shows a cross-section of the cable

SubscriberI have done this kind of work in the past. At the time, I did not find any tutorial (maybe there are some now?). What do you intend to do with the results? If beam theory is sufficient for you, then you can use ANSYS static structural with 3D Timoshenko beams to represent the wires and Beam-to-Beam contact (Conta 177 and Target 170) elements to represent contact between the wires. If beam theory is not sufficient for you and you need 3D solid element, then your problem is more difficult. You can still do it in ANSYS static structural but be ready to deal with a lot of convergence problems and long simulation time (see a similar work here https://escholarship.mcgill.ca/concern/theses/jh343w388 ). If you want to save time and still use 3D FE, you can use LS dyna (see an example here https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S095006181100763X).

SubscriberThanks for your kind response
Unfortunately, I could not find any tutorial explaining. However, my work is going to based for bridge cables considering the tension and bending moment. As I am new to ANSYS I have many doubts about it where I was used to work on ABAQUS. What do you advise me for good results? Thanks for the papers

SubscriberYou did not answer my question as to whether beam theory will be sufficient for your problem.
ANSYS Static Structural can simulate both tension and bending for the cable. What are your doubts regarding using ANSYS for this problem? If you can share them, then maybe I can help.
If you can share a sketch of the exact geometry and loading conditions for your cable, then I can give some guidance on the best approach to take.

Also, what is the aim of your analysis? It is important to model the contacts between the wires?
