SubscriberHi, I have a question about the solar boundary condition while setting the wall boundary conditions. The values of absorptivity of the direct visible and direct IR are the same as the absorption coefficient of the wall materials?
It would be much appreciated if anyone could help me out with this.
Thank you in advance:)

AdministratorHello Absorptivity is not the same as the absorption coefficient. Please check these links.
14.3.11. Solar Load Model (ansys.com)
8.8.1. Absorption Coefficient (ansys.com)
This should help you understand the difference.

SubscriberHi Karthik Thanks for your reply! Yes, I have read through the links that you attached and now I have a basic understanding of the difference between absorptivity and absorption coefficient. So can I say that the absorptivity under the solar BC is based on the surface finish of the wall?
Thank you in advance:)

AdministratorHi Yes, this is correct! Not just on the finish but also on the material properties of the wall.

SubscriberHello ANSYS family, I am working on cooling of solar PV panel. The model designing and its meshing were successfully done. Now i am facing the problem in setting up the simulation conditions in ANSYS fluent. As i am an undergrade student and not able to fined out the solution. Will seniors could help me please! I will be very thankful for all of you.
Thankyou. ÂViewing 5 reply threads- The topic ‘Solar boundary condition’ is closed to new replies.
