Hello,

I have performed FEA in Abaqus and have a buckled shell geometry (with holes). I would like to import this shape and use it as a solid in Fluent simulations. Ideally, I would use Fluent meshing as well, rather than importing a mesh.

So far, the only compatible file type seems to be an OBJ file, but the format is not convenient (many small, irregular faces; I have not been able to repair the geometry.)

I understand that Ansys has FSI capability, but I do not currently have an ANSYS Mechanical license, so I'm hoping it is possible to interface betwene Abaqus + Ansys Fluent alone. Please note that I do not need to carry out any structural analysis with Ansys.

If it's only the solid shape that you need you may need to read it into SpaceClaim, then add the fluid region and then move onto Fluent Meshing. Check what SpaceClaim will read and go from there.
