SubscriberDear all, i have a question in Ansys workbench. My question is.how.can i use the beam188 element but without including the shear deformation effects?

SubscriberYou can't stop BEAM188 from including shear deformation. Why would you want to?
One reason I can think of is that you want to compare the FEA solution to Euler-Bernoulli beam deflection equations.
BEAM188 can be compared with Timoshenko beam deflection equations that include shear deformation.

SubscriberThank you so much sir for your answer. Yes exactly, i'm trying to compare the FEA solution to Euler-Bernoulli deflection equations. My numerical results were different than those which are obtained analytically using Euler-Bernoulli equations and i'm trying to see if this deviation is due to the shear deformation effect. In your opinion sirHow can verify if the deviation between the results was caused by the fact of using a different beam theory (including the shear deformation effect)?

SubscriberCalculate the shear deformation and add it to the bending deformation.
