SubscriberHello together,
i just spend a lot of time to model a battery in steady-state thermal-electric module on Ansys Mechanical and validated my model with experimental data.
Now i want to do a transient simulation where my current is changing. As joule heating plays a major role in my thermal behaviour, how can i do a transient simulation including the joule heating? Coupling my models? Import the Joule heat as heat generation, depending on my current?
I am a beginner to mechanical and have almost no experience in using APDL.
I hope someone can help me out! Thanks already!

Ansys EmployeeHi
The easiest is to run your current model (steady-state thermal-electric), and just use an apdl command snippet to change/convert it (steady-state thermal-electric) to a transient analysis.
Below is a discussion that gives the commands on how to do that (run transient).
All the best
Erik

Ansys EmployeeHi
We should use the native system now called coupled field transient with thermal and electric (conduction) physics.Â

See here for more info:
Coupled Field Analysis Types (ansys.com)
Or search the online Ansys help for coupled field analysis types.
Thank you
Erik
