SubscriberI have a I beam over which wheel will put heavy load( I guess wheel will make line contact with I beam(rail)
Its case of train wheels putting load over rail.
Is it correct if I apply force directly on edge(line contact of wheel with rail(I beam)
The load is of train weight going through wheels over I beam?
Tell me please

You can model a line body and then select an I-section profile for it. Then while applying load (train load) on the rail, a point load can be applied on line body (having I-profile)

But same question I have, all stress concentration comes at the edge which I selected for to apply loading.
Rest of beam has just blue color, not much stress?
Would you like give any more suggestion over it?
Also remote point scoped to remote force apply udl load?
Because in remote force option, it ask to select face.
What's difference between applying force load through Force(by selecting face) and remote force( which is default only give option to select face)

Forum ModeratorIf you apply load on an edge then artificial stresses develop (hence all stress are concentrated on the edge and almost zero stress at other parts), which is the reason why it is never recommended to apply load on an edge. Hence I suggested using an I-section profile on a line body and then applying point load to it, which will act similar to what you want.

SubscriberThanks saumadeep, I converted in to beam my I rail, but now I rail which sit over base plate(base plate made of shell element)
They both have good gap, as they both I section(now beam element) sit over shell plate, and as now it's just a line , so it has no touch with shell plate
What should I do? Should gap should be a problem between line and shell plate over which it should lay?
