So I'm encountering some strange issues with a sliding mesh setup in Fluent. I have a typical circular sliding mesh trying to run transient 2d simulations of a vertical axis wind turbine. However, throughout the course of the simulation the mesh region that rotates slowly grows or shrinks (depending on the direction of rotation).
October 28, 2021 at 3:34 pmRobForum ModeratorCan you check the centre point of the rotating zone? This tends to occur when the centre is fractionally out of alignment.
October 28, 2021 at 4:33 pmtemayer17SubscriberIf the mesh wasn't rotating about the proper centerpoint, I would expect it to overlap on one side and have a gap on the other. However, this shrinkage or growth is uniform all the way around the inner mesh. Additionally, the above image was taken after 5 full rotations, so the mesh should've returned to it's initial rotation.

November 15, 2021 at 2:39 pmRobForum ModeratorOther than having a careful look at how Fluent's defined the interface, https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/Secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v212/en/flu_ug/flu_ug_sec_nonconform_using.html and potentially turning off the 1-to-1 pairing to give you the full range of options there's not much I can suggest.
