SubscriberHi!
I have issues meshing the following part. I have applied "Face Meshing" to all faces and have defined all edges with Edge Sizing (with Hard behavior). On the horizontal line (in the middle of the image) you can see the grid sizing pinch the adjacent face. We can also see the cell boundaries do a random zig-zag motion that is really strange also.
Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks,
Liam

AdministratorHello,
Which edges have you specified the Hard Edge sizing on? Also, have you tried changing the behavior to 'Soft'?

SubscriberHi Karthik I have specified them all as hard. If I change any to soft I don't get the edge spacing I would like.
Thanks,
Liam

Forum ModeratorIt's likely the edge and face sizing are conflicting with each other and/or the cell growth rates/smoothing algorithms as the face isn't square. As we don't know what you're meshing it's hard to tell if you're using the best approach. Note, the excessive use of decomposition to force mapped face/volume mesh is largely superseded by hex pave and polyhedral elements in most cases now.

SubscriberHi Rob,
Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, I do need to to use the forced mapped volume meshing. I tried this method as I was trying to emulate ICEM which I do not have access to any more.
Is there any way to turn all of smoothing/node adjustment features off such that the mesher just follows my edge spacing? I have varied the face sizing from small to very large to see if that has an impact, but it doesn't.
Thanks for your help.

Forum ModeratorThere are some smoothing options, see if any of those help.
