      Dear Altruits ,

Would you please let me know if I have to define both the velocity and pressure on the tool or only velocity while simulating friction stir welding ?

PS. : I wanted to see the results of non-linear deformation of the workpiece. I turned on the nonlinear data but it is still showing error

The process of Friction Stir Welding involves plunging the tool into the workpiece and its rotation to achieve welding due to heat generated by friction. So to accurately model this problem you will need to define both velocity and pressure along with other boundary conditions.
To see the results of non-linear deformation, please consider the following recommendations on this link:
      28.8. Recommendations (ansys.com)
For detailed information on Simulation of Friction Stir Welding, please refer to this link:
Chapter 28: Friction Stir Welding (FSW) Simulation (ansys.com)

      Thank You,
      Vinayak
