SubscriberThe object is rotational periodic. The simulation of 1/3 is possible with periodic boundary. But what if I want to simulate it with stirring. Can I use sliding mesh? Are there any restrictions? I use Fluent as software.
I marked the possible areas, which should be periodic. You can see the sirrer at the bottom of the compartment with the finer mesh.

AdministratorHello What kind of stirring do you intend to model? The bottom finer mesh region is your rotating region and the rest of your domain is stationary?
If you are looking to understand restrictions around sliding mesh, I'd recommend that you go through the details in this link from the Fluent User's Guide.

SubscriberHello I want to simulate a stirred-pulsed fluid domain with eulerian modell. The pulsation comes from boundary conditions. My question is about the stirring
The finer mesh is the rotating sliding mesh domain. I want to use sliding mesh for transient simulation of the stirring. Initial values will come from stationary simulation with multiple reference frame. The offset for the periodic boundaries is 120┬░ or -120┬░. So for the sliding meshregion, I have to choose periodic repeats, right? In Fluent I wasn't able to find this options, so I need to first wirte this in Command Window: "define/mesh-interfaces/one-to-one-pairing? no" says the Fluent tutorial guide.
The mesh is non-conformal (for periodic boundaries and periodic repeats), but that shouldn't be a problem, right?
I really appreciate your help.
If that works, then only 1/3 of fluid domain is needed to be simulated, which would be positive for the computational efford.

Ansys EmployeeYes you can assume periodicity and later on compare full run to periodic run.
