SubscriberHi,
I'm getting a weird error when running several Aqwa simulations through Workbench via design points. The exact error message is:
"Error in command AQWA.Start: No value has been assigned to the output parameter workbenchConnection after completion"
My output parameter is the maximum value of a paremeter vs time plot in a hydrodynamic response but is arbitrary, as a post-solve python script pulls all the actual results I want and saves them in an external file. This error also stops Workbench from running throuhg the design points, which is obviously annoying as each batch takes around two days to run and I lose however much time occurs between the error and me checking up on Workbench. This error has happened several times now, I have tried creating a "clean" file with no links to previous versions, but it didn't help. As far as I can tell, it occurs arbitrarily and is not due to user input, as the PC running the simulations is left unattended.
Does anyone know what might be causing this error, and how could I resolve it?
I have the detailed error message saved if it would be of any help diagnosing this issue, I can post in a comment below.
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

Ansys EmployeeHi, which version of Ansys were you using?
October 4, 2021 at 3:53 pmYu Bi
Ansys EmployeeThis error message happens when Workbench has problems starting Aqwa. This can happen because of the unusual status of your machine. For example, IT's interruptions during the night. If it happens all the time, we usually suggest the user reinstall Ansys, but in your case, it occurs arbitrarily, so we don't have any good solution as we don't know what exactly stops Aqwa from starting. Is there any pattern when it happens, like always overnight or around the same time of day?

I'm running Ansys 2020 R2. And yeah, as far as I can tell there is no pattern. It has happened overnight and during the day. As far as I can recall it has occured every time I've tried running through my design points (roughly 270 points). More information on my machine, it's a physical PC I am remoting into and is managed by the University IT department. The error has occured both when I am remoted into the PC and when I'm disconnected. I don't have any other apps running in the foreground.

Ansys EmployeeIf it happens all the time, we would recommend reinstalling Ansys. Otherwise, it is more likely to be a machine's problem than a software's problem, which we cannot help. Sorry.
