Welding Stress

      I hav e a hollow box over which a plate is welded.

      Could I check the stresses induced in the welded joint using ANSYS

      You can check the stress induced in the welded joint by modelling the geometry accordingly with welds by referring to the attachment and by using appropriate boundary conditions to solve the geometry. Here are some of the references attached.

      Is there a way that i can weld, or shall I simply created a weld geometry and exrude it

      Yes you can create a weld through Mesh panel by setting 'Yes' to Mesh Based connections via Details and then generate a weld by inserting 'Weld' option. Other way is to create a series of Spot Weld connections with appropriate dimensions. While you can model the weld itself in CAD interface( by your mentioned way or through Design Modeler )and then by setting appropriate properties, you may simulate it.
