modelling in maxwell 2d

      Hi,

I was trying to model an outer rotor SRM in 3d but I was running into some problems so my superior asked me to do the simulation in 2d instead to save time. I have to calculate an efficiency map for the motor. Since, I have only used Maxwell 2d for pre-existing motor templates from Rmxpert and not for any transient behavior. I am confused on how to approach this problem. Do I create a 2D model in CAD and import it? Do I need to specify a band too in this? All I know is that I need to calculate losses and torque when the rotor is moving at a given speed. I will need atleast 5 such points for every speed to make the map. Can anyone advise me on how to proceed for this problem?

answer to your questions are yes, yes and yes. There is a SRM example in RMxprt with installation, it could create Maxwell 2D or 3D model from there and you can refer all the settings from the example.
For machine toolkit questions, Maxwell online help has some good infomaiton:

thank you for the response but the model I am making is an OUTER ROTOR SRM, not an inner rotor. The RMxpert does not have a configuration for outer rotor SRM but only for an inner rotor one as it gives an error.
