SubscriberHello,Â
I am simulating an air flow on a propeller to get a value of the generated thrust. I have already succeeded in the whole simulation with a 4 blade propeller but when I try with a 5 blade propeller, the enclosure (cylinder) does not line up correctly with the axis of rotation of the propeller (check the photo hereafter).
Can you help me? I have to hand in my work this Monday evening...
This person is experiencing the same issue --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAj3q1wsZss&ab_channel=FrankR%C3%BCckert
Thank you in advance.
Regards

Forum ModeratorIt looks like the enclosure is trying to balance on the blades. Rather than use an enclosure why not create a cylinder using either a primitive or a sketch+extrude. If you do remember to use a boolean!

SubscriberThank you for your quick response.
I already tried with primitive/sketch+extrude but it did not generate any thrust when I ran the simulation (although I used boolean).
I think it might be due to the fact that the propeller doesn't spin because I'm using a frozen body.
I've seen this guy try something else but I don't know if it's really right to do it that way.

SubscriberYou can try these videos. I think main problem is about boolean operation.

SubscriberThank you for your help ANthony but I learned how to manage Ansys thank to ... these two videos ÂÆ’ÿë.
So the boolean is not the problem in my opinion as I managed to do the same simulation with only 4 blades. But I also need the results with a 5 blade propeller...

Forum ModeratorCan you put a plane through the mesh in the 5-blade case? It's possible to generate a mesh in the cylinder and inside the blades that Fluent will read but you'll not get any interaction between the domains.
