SubscriberHello dear expert,
I am new to ANSYS Workbench, and I have faced some issues regarding two-way fluid-solid interaction. I want to simulate a simple model, a 2D rectangular duct that a part of its top wall is flexible. So I created a rectangular channel and attached a rectangular part to represent that flexible section of the top wall, which has a thickness of 1mm. For more simplicity, I have only used fixed support at both ends of this flexible section to see how the airflow impacts it. (Note: since we cannot mesh a 2D geometry in ANSYS, I have set the width to be 1mm, and there are only two rows of elements in the width of the domain).
Regarding this discussion (/forum/discussion/1222/creating-a-common-wall-on-fluid-flow), I have formed a new part and then used “share topology” to achieve a conformal mesh and avoid further errors such as one-surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone. Creating empty surface, or additional walls in Fluent.
However, by using share topology and having no problem with meshing the fluid zone, when I open fluent to setup other variables (inlet velocity, dynamic mesh motion, and so forth), there will be no mesh interface, and also the interface will automatically be set wall:

Ansys EmployeeHi Samina When running a 2-way FSI simulation with System Coupling (coupling Fluent and Mechanical), the solid isn't modelled in Fluent. I recommend going over this tutorial in the Ansys documentation that shows a 2-way FSI simulation with Fluent and Mechanical. https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v202/en/sysc_tut/sysc_tut_oscplate_wb_fluent.html

You could also try IntrinsicFSIwhich is a basic FEA solver that is built into Fluent. Please see the following links for more information. With Intrinsic FSI you do model the solid in Fluent.

SubscriberHi Steve I will reread the suggested tutorials.
Thanks
