SubscriberWe are getting the following error during installation of ANSYS 2021 R2 onto our server. We have the latest License manager installed. Do we need a new license file for 2021? If so, how do we get the new license file?

Ansys EmployeeThis does not seem to be an licensing issue. Line 6 of the message indicates that Iron Python cannot be started. That should be in the following location, assuming the standard installation:
C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v212\commonfiles\IronPython
Please check whether that folder, and contents, exist or not. I'm guessing that it does not and this is a incomplete installation. The 'most usual' suspects would be:
1 If the zip version of the installation media was downloaded, then using the built-in compression of MS File Explorer will result in an incomplete file set (to be installed). Use a 64 bit compression tool like WinRar or 7Zip to uncompress the zip file.
2 MS UAC is interfering with the install. Be sure to right-click the setup.exe and specifically choose to 'run as admin'.

SubscriberMike We were able to install ANSYS 2021 R2 onto the server. However, when I go to the computer lab, and try to launch ANSYS Mechanical APDL, I get the following error.
Also, when I launch Workbench, I only get one Analysis system in the toolbox.
I have reached out to our customer support representative Gilles Eggenspieler as well.
Thank you Phil

SubscriberMike I received an email from our Business Manager, David Benson. Below is a part of his email.
If I am looking at the correct account (#447848) I believe the license key file sent in 2020 would be valid through 2023, and therefore enable it to work with any new software release versions that occur before that point. Can you possibly confirm that I am looking at the correct Ansys account #?The product as renewed in 2020 wasANSYS Academic Multiphysics Campus Solution (10/100) - Lease.
I noticed the error we got today mentions "ANSYS Mechanical Enterprise." Our multi-year contract signed last year was for ANSYS Academic Multiphysics Campus Solution. Could this be the problem?
Thanks Phil

Forum ModeratorYou will need a new license file to support the new releases starting at 2021R1. You can obtain a new license from the Ansys Licensing Portal https://licensing.ansys.com/index.html#/ssl Please follow this video for steps to activate your licenses and obtain the new license file (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7idHWwDVHrc&list=PL0lZXwHtV6OmAST1t6MHMyAM7f1wBXCLr&index=1) Please also install the new license manager.

SubscriberMatt We have gone onto the License Portal and it is requiring a new host ID. Our current license file host ID is not showing up in the License Portal. We should already have a host ID associated with our current ANSYS 2020 license.
We are concerned with creating a new license file associated with the same host ID.
Can you provide the new license file to us?
Thank you Phil

Forum ModeratorYou just need to enter the server information as this is the first time using the licensing portal. It will create the license for you to either download or email to yourself.
