SubscriberAs many posts show there are issues with getting the student version of ANSYS (2021R1) to initiate. In my case I always get a message "FLUENT application failed to validate the connection"
My OS is latest Windows 10. I have VM software used to communicate with office. I noted in ANSYS Help an instruction to change the IP address to 127.0.0.1. in the dialog box for FLUENT. This did not seem to help. Also Post 903 suggested configuring products but as stated in the post the Configure Products & CADs selection is empty. Hitting next does not seem do anything. FLUENT is not in the Windows Startup list under ANSYS but in Workbench it tries to start from the Workbench Setup.
I noticed a message in Windows that " localhost refused to connect". I understand that IP 127.0.0.1 is the localhost for my computer. Does this mean the selection in the FLUENT dialog box is not being allowed?
Any specific help for this problem?
Thanks

Forum ModeratorCan you launch Fluent from the Start menu? You may need to set the mpi to msmpi as opposed to default. It's almost certainly a Win10 setting as my laptop also does this following a recent update: I have iT working on it.....

SubscriberFluent isn't listed in the ANSYS2021R1 menu in Win 10. I have see the dialog box to msmpi. I tried to start it from the Program file but it didn't work. I look forward to IT solution.

Forum ModeratorTry running the exe directly C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v211\fluent\ntbin\win64\fluent.exe otherwise may know once he gets back from the US holidays.

SubscriberThanks for the direction on running fluent.exe directly. However, once it started loading and when the User Window screen was displayed the same message occurs: CX 2110.exe stopped working.

SubscriberUPDATE: Per directions in post 903 I was able to install Fluent in the Windows 10 Start Menu under ANSYS 2021R1. However, the program starts and then gives the CX2110.exe error.
The process for getting Fluent into the Start Menu is repeated here:
go to C:\Program Files\ANSYSInc\Student\v211\commonfiles\configs\win64\config and run AnsConfigFLUENT.exe using right-click Run as Administrator

Forum ModeratorCan you make sure you have current graphics drivers installed? Please try opening a Windows Command Prompt and running "dxdiag" and paste the contents into a reply, we cannot open attachments.

Forum ModeratorHave you tried running with your firewall disabled to see if there's any impact?
August 2, 2021 at 9:43 pmjzimme
SubscriberThe result is the same (CX2110.exe has stopped)with the firewall off. Also I was starting Fluent from the start menu not the Workbench. Previously I had noticed an error message from Microsoft the the Local Host could not be accessed. I tried removing my VM software and re-starting. This didn't help.
I am wondering if somewhere in the Fluent start-up it tries to verify the license. If so maybe the license information can't be read - maybe in the wrong directory?
A big thanks for your continued effort to help on this problem.
