SubscriberHi dear community,
I performed an external Matlab analysis using a condensed (Craig Bampton) FEM model. Now, I should visualize the results into Ansys APDL in terms of condensed and expanded model. Unfortunately, i have no idea how to import these results and to print them along the FE model.

Ansys EmployeeHello
are these results rst, and FEM model in an Ansys format (say cdb/inp and .rst) or?
Thank you
Erik

SubscriberHi Erik thanks for your reply. The FE model is entirely built in Ansys (also the condensed model) while the numerical results come from Matlab so their raw format is a .txt .
any suggestion?
I have to import the results into Ansys and to visualize the displacement map along the condensed/expanded FE model
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeHi
That would not be possible (txt) for the results files - we would need to have them in a .rst format which is a binary (which you could not write from matlab).
Perhaps some of my colleagues have some other ideas ( ).
Thank you

SubscriberOk, thanks!
So, how can I convert .txt format into the .rst one?

Ansys EmployeeThat is not possible since rst is binary proprietary ansys file.
Let's see if there is a workaround - my colleagues might be able to give some advice here.
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeAlso see if paraview or an open source format can help somehow with viewing results.
All the best

Let me know if your colleagues suggest something.
Thanks

Subscriberi disturb you for an additional question: how can i export the CMS transformation matrix (T matrix) after the condensation?
I found on line some instruction for exporting mass and stiffness matrices but anything about this CMS transformation matrix.
Do you know something?
Thanks
Davide

Ansys EmployeeHello
Have never tried this but check:
*DMAT command or IOkey option in CMSOPT command
Thank you

Subscriber.
Thanks for your reply.
I found some instruction:
Chose the correct IOKEY output (CSM transformation matrix), see the picture
After the condensation, use the command *DMAT, "Matname", D, IMPORT, CMS, "file".cms, NOR (fixed interface modes) or CST (static constrained modes)
with the PRINT command you can print the matrices
