Designing a Double Composite Steel Box Bridge: Unknown errors

      Hello,

I am facing some issues solving the errors on my model (attached with this discussion). When I went through similar topics in the forum it said it is regarding the contact regions supporting the boundary conditions. Can anyone go through my model and suggest any solutions please?

      Best Regards,

      Ankitha.

To be more specific the errors include:
An internal solution magnitude limit was exceeded. Please check your Environment for inappropriate load values or insufficient supports. Please see the Troubleshooting section of the Help System for more information. The unconverged solution (identified as Substep 999999) is output for analysis debug purposes. Results at this time should not be used for any other purpose.
An internal solution magnitude limit was exceeded. (Node Number 126233, Body TopSlab, DOF UZ) Please check your Environment for inappropriate load values or insufficient supports. You may select the offending object and/or geometry via RMB on this warning in the Messages window. Please see the Troubleshooting section of the Help System for more information.

You have a lot of work to do in SpaceClaim or DesignModeler to convert all the thin-walled solid body parts, such has this box shown below, into mid-surfaces sheet bodies.
All the bracing ribs should be converted to midsurface models.
Only the Top Slab and Bottom Slab should remain as solids.
It's always best to say what version of Ansys you are using. I could tell from opening the solution information that you are using 2019 R3. If you tell me that, then I won't open the file in newer versions. That way, if I make a change, I can pass it back to you in a way that you can open it.

thank you so much for the help. Yes I am using ANSYS 2019 R3. I will be waiting to receive the file. Thanks again. This help means a lot to me.

Reread the first sentence of my previous post, "You have a lot of work to do". I suggest you get started. If you get stuck, you can ask more questions. What I meant by the last sentence is if you get stuck and attach a model, I can attach your model with a small fix to my reply. But what I describe above is a major rewrite of the entire model, starting with geometry, it is not a small fix.

oh sure, thank you. I will start with it as soon as possible and will keep you updated if I have any doubts regarding the same.

Hello! I have paused working on the model due to several diversions at work place but anyway I restarted to work on it again. I have used the midsurface tool with automatic setting by keeping the threshold of 0.25 in - 6.9 in. Could you please check if I can do that way please? As I could not have a successful run even after that. I have attached the modified geometry file. I am using ANSYS 2021 R1.

I suppressed a lot of items so I could show you some examples of how to get something working.
You can create multiple modules and get each one working then connect them together in a new module.

Hello Peter! Thank you so much for showing me how to work it out. I have created a similar modal analysis with the suppressed parts in your example one. However, I am unable to link this new modal analysis to the existing static structural to run it together. Could you please have a look? Also, I did not create any manual contact connection like yours because I just wanted to see how it works. I do have a question though. The rebar I have used in top and bottom slabs has to have a contact or it works fine the way it is now? Please let me know.
      Thank you in advance!

Use a Mechanical Model to merge the two modules into one and apply Bonded Contact to hold the modules together. Then use that Model in a Modal or Static Structural analysis.

The attachment in my reply above is only to show you how to connect two modules. I did not check if the two modules you created were working.
I ran Modal system C and see you have an unconnected part! You have to fix that.
      Modal B is working properly.

I'm amazed on how you help students of this learning forum. I'm trying to resolve the contact issues as you suggested. Thank you so much for all the help Peter! I will get back to you once I finish running it. I'm working on it now. Thank you again!!
