Hi,

Why does my model have large stresses without any loads? The ball in the middle is held up by the bolts in each side but without any load, there should be no stresses I suppose?

Ansys employees can not download your model, but do you have interference fit like scenario? Also what is displacement BC? Is it used to fix all or given a finite value?

Could there be a thermal load caused by specifying a temperature greater than the reference temperature?

There are plenty of Contact loads, look at the size of the Penetration in some of these contacts. They all have to be driven to less than the allowable penetration when the solution step ends. Resolving penetration in contacts causes stress.
