How to Find Porous Media Viscous and Inertial Resistance

      Hello,

I am looking to simulate flow through several different types of fabrics and filters. In the porous zone conditions, I believe the main way to define these material conditions would be through:

      1. Porosity
      2. Viscous Resistance
      3. Inertial Resistance

Unfortunately I am having a tough time trying to find these specific values, is there a way to identify these values for fabrics, filters, etc?

From what I have seen in the user guide (section 7.2.3.8.6), I have directions on how they work with Direction 1 and Direction 2 vectors, but not how they can be defined.

Read the rest of the section as it explains how to convert experimental data into the graphs to then calculate the coefficients. This data can be obtained from lab work, or if you're lucky the manufacturers datasheets.

Thank you for the reply Rob. I was looking at deriving the coefficients on pressure and velocity data (7.2.3.8.11). From my read through, I have to create a trendline. Based on the user guide, the trendline has to be a 2nd order polynomial for me to identify the right constants to use to determine viscous and inertial resistance. Is that correct?
