Digital Engineering for Space Mission Analysis and Design: Vehicle Design

Overview

The design of space vehicles necessitates a comprehensive understanding of thermal, fluid, and structural domains to evaluate mission success criteria. The complexity of the spacecraft system and integration of its subsystems also require feedback among these physics domains.

We will demonstrate how high-fidelity computer simulation can be leveraged to understand the impact of these physics domains and their interactions on vehicle design. This is critical for achieving operational mission success, improving design decisions, and accelerating the vehicle's lifecycle.

What Attendees will Learn

In particular, the webinar will cover:

  • Vehicle thermal design considerations, focusing on passive and active thermal control systems and their impact on structural stability and component temperature management throughout all mission phases
  • Propulsion and fuel systems for vehicle attitude control
  • Structural design considerations primarily include (i) strength to maintain stability and integrity and (ii) response to dynamic loads and their dissipation
