Safety and Risk — Lesson 1

Safety and risk definitions are important in addressing the concerns related to human safety. Safety represents the absence of unreasonable risks and impacts because of their occurrence and severity. IEC 61508, a recognized standard for functional safety, guides the determination of acceptable risk levels, emphasizing a risk-based approach and the incorporation of safety measures. In this lesson, we discuss the importance of adhering to international functional safety standards to mitigate accidents resulting from product malfunctions.
