A skateboard is a piece of sports equipment made up of a plywood board coated in polyurethane attached to a pair of wheel trucks, to get you rolling around. Skateboarding is not just a sport but also a culture. You may be familiar with some skateboarding tricks. Let’s get ready for a full 1080 with this model!
Our approach to modeling will be completely different from before. Instead of using a detailed technical drawing, we will rely only on pictures to build the board. Then, we will complete the model by importing and repairing an existing CAD model of the skateboard truck. Download the pictures and the components required for creating this skateboard model here. Looking at the pictures, we can outline a plan and start creating the skateboard model. Then we will import a component and analyze how to repair it before assembling the final model.

In this modeling session you learned how to import an image, scale it and use it to trace the outline of the skateboard. You used a reference box to make sure that all the dimensions would reflect common real-world dimensions. You used sketching tools such as Lines and Three-Point-Arcs to create the outline, then used the Pull Both Sides option, the Combine and the Mirror tools to complete the board. After that, you learned how to import and repair a CAD model using automated tools like Stitch and Missing Faces, and with manual operations using the Fill and Blend tools. Last, you completed the model using the Assembly tools to connect the trucks to the board.S
