A source injects light into the simulation region. In this video lesson, you will learn about the common features of the sources regardless of their types.
Various sources have many similarities as well as differences. In this video lesson, you will learn about the key settings common to all sources in Lumerical FDTD.
Click the arrow next to the “Sources” button in the main toolbar to open the drop-down menu
Click the “Global Properties” option at the bottom of the drop-down menu
Add a Gaussian source:
Click the arrow next to the “Sources” button in the main toolbar to open the drop-down menu
Click the “Gaussian” option which is the second on the list in the drop-down menu
Edit the Gaussian source:
Make sure that the Gaussian source is selected in the Objects Tree window. If not, click the source in the Objects Tree to select it
Click the Edit button in the edit toolbar on the left (pencil icon), or use the "E " keyboard shortcut to open the edit window
To close the edit window click the “OK” button at the bottom right to accept the settings or the “Cancel” button to discard any changes to the settings.
