Theory of Laminar Boundary Layers - Lesson 3

Boundary layers are important in the life cycle of plants. Depending on the size and shape of the leaf, as well as its surface roughness, the boundary layer can vary significantly. The thickness of the boundary layer forming on leaves affects directly the heat transfer, the concentration of carbon dioxide and the humidity that the leaves are exposed to. The photosynthesis process and plant growth change depending on the boundary layer thickness.

In this lesson we will derive the governing equations for boundary layers. These equations give us a tool to solve the boundary layer and analyze its characteristics.
