After an initial model has been created, it will often go through several design iterations to modify certain parts or surfaces. The chassis, floor, and aerodynamic surfaces will all go through various changes to optimize the car against some variable or to adhere to certain scrutineering requirements. Oftentimes it is a good idea to compare your current design against a previous version to understand how certain design changes affect the model. This lesson will teach students how to perform this side-by-side comparison study using Ansys Discovery.
In this lesson, students will learn how to modify an existing fluid domain, as well as import a second car geometry into their CFD simulation. This type of simulation will be performed to understand how two different car designs compare against one another. The force of drag will be examined on both car models and compared to determine the optimal design.
