When adding a CaseMap or CaseMapDiff in the Ansys EnSightâ„¢ simulation data visualization software calculator, the application freezes and does not respond anymore. Why does this happen?
Ansys EnSight software starts at least one server process for each loaded case. These server processes need to communicate for mapping data from one case to another. If this communication is prevented, Ansys EnSight software freezes until the processes can either establish a communication channel or the connection times out (which can take very long).
There are two main error sources:
1. The server processes communicate with their hostnames. If this is not possible the connection fails. Some VPN configurations can be the source of this type of communication failure.
2. The server processes must be able to send and receive TCP connections. If a firewall blocks this communication path by default, an exception needs to be added. The executables that spawn the processes that need to talk with each other are deep within the Ansys EnSight application installation folder. The default path for 2022 R1 on Windows is:
