When selecting materials for design that requires only one objective to be optimized, the ranking materials step is simple: maximize or minimize the property of interest using a single performance index. But optimizing multiple properties at once quickly adds complexity to the ranking stage.
This first lesson will revisit performance indices and emphasize the importance of how we are ranking materials during multiple objective cases.
