The presence of buoyancy forces in a fluid occurs when gravity acts on the density difference within the fluid, leading to natural convection flows. In this lesson, our primary focus is on how to model natural convection in Ansys Fluent. We will begin with discussing the importance of making density a function of temperature and enabling gravity and its effect on the underlying governing equation. We will also discuss the factors to keep in mind when defining boundary conditions for these problems. We will conclude the lesson by discussing the widely used Boussinesq model.
