In the iterative process of solving any CFD problem, the first step that needs to be performed is to initialize the solution variables. Initialization primarily means assigning each computational cell with a value that serves as an initial guess for the solver to proceed with the simulation. This step is crucial in any CFD simulation because the closer the initial guess is to the final solution, the faster is the convergence. This lesson focuses on the importance of initialization, and by using a hands-on demo, demonstrates the various methods of initialization that can be found in the Initialization group under Solution tab of Ansys Fluent. We will also learn the applications of various initialization methods and visualize the differences between them.
