Forced Convection Over a Flat Plate — Lesson 3

The flow over a flat plate is a very common simplification used to derive experimental correlations in the analysis of complex problems such as flows over airplane wings or turbine blades. Flat plate correlations also serve as basic verifications of CFD codes. In this lesson, we will focus on understanding the forced convection heat transfer behavior for both laminar and turbulent flat plate flows and will discuss how to estimate the heat transfer coefficients for two different setups of the flat plate: isothermal and uniform heat flux conditions.
