Hip replacement is a surgical procedure in which the hip joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant. This artificial hip joint undergoes complex loading when a person walks, runs, sits, squats etc. Finite element analysis can help to identify the location and magnitude of the maximum stress and thus provide valuable feedback for safe design of the implant. In this lesson, we will perform stress analysis of a hip implant under one such loading condition.
