Ansys DesignXplorer™ design optimization application is marked as deprecated from release 2025R2 on. It is recommended to migrate your projects to Ansys optiSLang® process integration and design optimization software. With the dsdxm license module, it is possible to use Ansys optiSLang software with no extra license, but not at full functionality (“Base” license).
The tutorial shows typical tools and the respective results of Ansys DesignXplorer application, and the equivalent tools and results postprocessing with Ansys optiSLang software. This is demonstrated at a simple analytical function example using Ansys Parametric Design Language (APDL)™ finite element modeling tool, which is independent of any physical solver. This tutorial provides no detailed training, see prerequisites above.
The appendix gives an overview of further workflow building, analysis and optimization options in Ansys optiSLang software, which are available through an Ansys optiSLang software license.

Following completion of this tutorial, you will be able to:
- The typical tools used in a workflow with Ansys DesignXplorer application.
- The equivalent tools of Ansys optiSLang software and their usage.
- Further options in Ansys optiSLang software available with a license (Pro, Premium, Enterprise level, AI+ option).
Prerequisites:
- This tutorial addresses users of Ansys DesignXplorer application in Ansys Workbench™ simulation integration platform.
- You should be familiar with using parameters in Ansys Workbench platform and with the tools Parameters Correlation, Response Surface, and/or Response Surface Optimization, Direct Optimization using Ansys DesignXplorer application. - Basic knowledge about Ansys optiSLang software is recommended which can be obtained by attending the course Ansys optiSLang Getting Started.
