Terms & Conditions

By beginning or accessing this Ansys certification exam, You confirm acceptance of the Certification Terms and Conditions and all program policies, if any, provided or otherwise made available to You, and You agree to be bound by the Certification Terms and Conditions.

Format of the Certification Exam

  • This certification exam consists of 1 theory-based quiz and 3 simulation-based quizzes. You will have two attempts to pass within 30-days from your purchase.
  • The first certification test is 1 hour (60 mins) in timed duration and is based on the lecture videos and handouts. This theory exam tests your comprehension of the subject material.
  • There are 3 additional tests, each being 20 mins long, that are to be taken after setting up, solving and post-processing Ansys simulation models. These simulation exams test your basic understanding of Ansys Mechanical for setting up and interpreting the results of structural models.
  • The certification test questions include single-answer and multiple-answer questions.
  • The test questions are based upon what you learned in the video lectures and handouts, and the completion of assigned simulation examples.
  • You will have 30 days to complete the entire certification exam process, allowing for sufficient time to download, set up and solve the simulation models before starting the timed portion of the certification tests.
  • You may start each test at your convenience (within the 30 days period), but once a test has started, you must complete it; there is no option to pause and come back later.
  • You will be provided with Ansys Workbench starting files and instructions for each of the simulation models.
  • A passing grade of 75% is required for each theory portion as well as the simulation portion (75% passing for all simulation models as a whole).

Simulation Test Requirements and Details

  • For the simulation test, the simulation models have been designed to run within the limits of the free Ansys Student product, found here. (Be sure to install Ansys Student software, not Ansys Discovery Student software.) Alternatively, you may use a standard commercial or academic license of Ansys Mechanical software if you already have access to one through school or work.
  • You must use the latest version of Ansys software. The Workbench project files will not open in older releases of Ansys software, so attempting to take the certification exam with older releases will not be possible.
  • The simulation models use Ansys Mechanical found inside of Ansys Workbench.
  • Before proceeding with the certification, you should confirm that you can set up, solve and post-process any model inside Ansys Mechanical, hence confirming your ability to run the software.
  • Starting the certification exam without access to Ansys Mechanical software will result in a failed certification exam.
  • As a guide, the actual setup and solving of the simulation exercise should not take longer than 2 hours per simulation, but you have 30 days to complete this along with the exam itself.
If you do not pass the certification test, you will be permitted to retry one additional time (i.e., 2 attempts in total) within 30 days from when you purchased the certification exam.
