In this course, you will learn how to predict the blend time, or mixing time of two materials in a mixing tank using Ansys Fluent. You will perform a steady state simulation of the underlying flow field while employing the Multiple Reference Frame (MRF) model, followed by a transient simulation of species transport for computing the blend time.

Prerequisites: 

  • Completion of Ansys Fluent Getting Started: Basics.

Learning Outcome:

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Prepare a mixing tank geometry for simulation, using Ansys Discovery.
  • Create a numerical mesh using the Ansys Fluent Watertight Geometry Workflow.
  • Set up and run a steady simulation for the underlying flow field, using the MRF Frame motion for the impeller domains.
  • Set up and run a transient simulation of a species for estimating the blending time.
  • Create animations for visualizing the mixing process of the tracer.
