This workshop demonstrates how to design signaling functions with light guides and lenses, delving into the process and methodologies to achieve optimal results with Ansys Speos® CAD integrated optical and lighting simulation software.

Styling plays a crucial role in signaling functions. Despite stringent regulations, these functions remain a genuine component of a car's identity. The use of light guides is one of the most popular approaches to design Daytime Running Light (DRL). Although light guides may not be the most efficient means of distributing input light, they offer promising styling opportunities with smooth luminance decay.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this tutorial, you will be able to:

  • Create a light guide in Speos using Optical Part Design tools.
  • Create an optical lens in Speos using Optical Part Design tools
  • Run a Speos simulation.
  • Check the results and analyze them with Speos Human Vision.

Prerequisites:

  • Ansys Speos Workflow and Geometry Management course.
  • Ansys Speos Optical Part Design Advanced course.
  • Ansys Speos Human Vision course.

Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2025 R1 release.
