Overview
The primary goal of this premium learning material is to cover the basics of using the Fluent Materials Processing (MatPro) Workspace. The Fluent Materials Processing Workspace is a means to explore manufacturing applications such as polymer extrusion, blowmolding, fiber spinning, etc. within the Fluent environment. Many of the models and concepts in this workspace are based on Ansys Polyflow.
Performing simulations with MatPro requires the user to first create and mesh the geometry of the fluid region. Ansys SpaceClaim or Ansys Discovery are used to create geometries and Ansys Meshing is used to create meshes for MatPro simulations. To use MatPro successfully, you must also learn how to use the geometry creation and meshing tools and it is strongly recommended to complete training for these products as described below in the Prerequisites section.
Learning Outcome
Following completion of this premium learning material, you will be able to:
- Learn how to use the most important functions of Ansys Polyflow
- Understand the procedure of simple extrusion problems using MatPro
- Understand the procedure of simple thermoforming problems using MatPro
- Learn how to use material properties in MatPro and how to fit you experimental data
Prerequisites
- A technical education and background in fluid mechanics is recommended but not mandatory.
- This premium learning material is designed for clients who have little to no experience with MatPro
Target Audience:
People interested in this premium learning material are process and R&D engineers:
- Designing and troubleshooting profile, film and sheet dies of different types and configurations, including coextrusion.
- Design and optimize processes such as thermoforming, blow molding and glass forming. Design engineers to reduce thickness variation to improve the quality of thermoformed or blown products.
