This workshop introduces you to Ansys HFSS™ high-frequency electromagnetic simulation software for designing and analyzing a rectangular inset-fed patch antenna. It walks through the complete simulation workflow, from restoring the project to generating radiation patterns and field plots. The focus is on practical steps for setting up boundaries, ports, and analysis setup, followed by interpreting antenna performance metrics.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Navigate HFSS and manage antenna design projects effectively.
  • Create open regions and radiation setups automatically.
  • Assign appropriate boundaries for antenna simulations.
  • Assign lumped ports and reference conductors for accurate excitation.
  • Configure analysis setup and frequency sweep.
  • Validate to ensure proper simulation setup and analyze design.
  • Interpret antenna performance using S-parameters, Smith charts, and radiation patterns.
  • Understand gain patterns and far-field characteristics for antenna optimization.
  • Visualize electromagnetic fields and currents, including animations for dynamic behavior.

Prerequisites:

  • Getting Started with HFSS Software course.
