In this course, you will learn how to simulate a bubbling fluidized bed and determine its behavior for a given superficial velocity using the DDPM-DEM modeling approach in Ansys Fluent. While you will not extensively cover the mechanics of using the Dense DPM or DEM models, our central focus will be on the application of these models.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Comprehend the physical principles underlying fluidized beds and the process of fluidization.
  • Employ the DDPM-DEM modeling approach to simulate a fluidized bed.
  • Configure the collision parameters within the DEM framework, along with selecting appropriate boundary conditions.
  • Generate particle track animations and establish various post-processing elements to extract significant insights from the simulation results.

Prerequisites:

Basic understanding of:

  • Ansys Fluent Getting Started
  • Ansys Fluent Multiphase Flow Modeling

Estimated Time Required:  1 Hour

Please note:

These training materials were developed and tested in the 2023R2 release.
