I am using Ansys Workbench 2025R2 on Linux. When using Fluent, I cannot see the ribbon. I’ve seen online that this is a common issue, but there is no documentation for fixing it on Linux. Does anyone know how to fix this?

      Hi tardir,

If the Fluent ribbon interface is missing in Ansys Workbench 2025R2 on Linux, this typically occurs due to corruption of the layout configuration file in your user directory. The recommended solution is to reset the layout file so Fluent can regenerate it and restore the ribbon.

Steps to Restore the Fluent Ribbon on Linux

      1. Close Fluent completely before proceeding.
      2. Open a terminal and navigate to your home directory (~).
      3. Find the file named .cxlayout.ini (note the leading dot). This file stores Fluent’s GUI layout preferences.
      4. Rename the file (e.g., to .cxlayout.ini_old). This can be done with the command: mv ~/.cxlayout.ini ~/.cxlayout.ini_old
      5. Restart Fluent. The application will generate a fresh configuration file with default settings, and the ribbon interface should be restored.

Most often, this resolves missing ribbon issues. The same general approach applies on Windows, but file locations and names may differ. If the issue persists, verify that there are no additional configuration folders such as ~/.fluentconf causing a conflict. You may also rename or temporarily move these for troubleshooting.

The TUI command posted to reset the layout may also resolve the issue.
