Bbp_participantHi,
Im simmulating wing profile in Ansys static structural and in my first test analysis I've came across a problem that I have no Idea how to resolve.
When creating a total deformation, the upper shell doesn't interact with bottom shell and deforms through it.
This is a shell model imported from ACP-pre, it is split on the trailing edge.
I've applied boundary conditions, and contact regions.
First of all, the contact says no selection to no selection for some reason.
In my analysis setting I've set Large Deflection on, along side with Contact Miscellaneous.
I've experimented with different settings in Contacts but none worked and this is what ends up happening.
What can I possibly do in this scenario?

Ansys EmployeeHey,
Regarding the contact no selection – no selection it was default naming, you can rename by Right click on contact and select “Rename based on definition”.
Insert the contact tool add check the initail contact results. Try increasing the pin ball radius.
Refer to this course for more details Contact Mechanics | Ansys Innovation Courses
Thanks,
Deepak.

SubscriberInstead of Named Selections, try using Geometry and select the two edges for the contact and target sides of the bonded contact. Make sure the Pinball Radius is larger than the distance between the edges.

Bbp_participantWhen it comes to bonding edges together, the Pin ball radiut turned out to be the right answer. But it works only for bonded conection, not frictional for example. I will learn some more about contact regions, thanks.
