In this workshop, by using a generic high-speed train model, we will explore how to use the Ansys Fluent Meshing Watertight Geometry Workflow to create a CFD-ready mesh for an external aerodynamics type analysis. For such problems, it is critical to ensure that appropriate mesh refinement is used in regions where the flow behavior is highly dynamic. We will discuss how to create Box type local refinement regions around the train geometry and perform share topology. We will also learn how to assign dead region type to the solid train object so that it is not included in the simulations. We will also understand how to generate boundary layer mesh to efficiently capture the near-wall fluid flow behavior before finally learning how to generate the volume mesh.
