What is Stochastic material failure model & how to define it?
Materials in real world all have small defects so they are not uniform and homogeneous. Stochastic failure model is introduced to account for this and thus has a more realistic representation of real-world materials.
Stochastic failure model assigns every FE (Finite Element) element with different material failure stress or strain. It is defined in Engineering Data.
Attached is the example of stochastic failure model. Running this example shows the different failure pattern of glass between the standard failure and stochastic failure, where the stochastic failure looks more realistic.
