Stress Analysis of an Engine Connecting Rod — Lesson 1

In this lesson, we will perform stress analysis on the connecting rod of an engine. Assuming that the connecting rod is composed of steel, which stress component should we be checking? Compare the relevant stress value to the yield stress of steel and determine whether the connecting rod is designed adequately to prevent failure.
